Ever thought of doing a generation shoot?

Recently Katrina did a generation shoot for Brisbane photographer Sarah. The shoot was of Sarah's Oma, with her daughters and then all their daughters! It was a huge generation shoot of 16 women! This is what Sarah and Katrina had to say….

Jacqui and Malcolm

The girls at Katrina Christ Photographer would like to share some beautiful images of the lovely Jacqui and her hubby-to-be Malcolm. Jacqui has been with the Melbourne studio for over two years as our talented digital retoucher. She is the lady who adds that special magic to your beautiful images and makes sure they look absolutely perfect before they adorn your walls!

Together for eight years, Malcolm proposed to Jacqui at the Mossvale Music Festival on stage much to Jacqui's delight (and embarrassment)! The beautiful twilight ceremony will be held in Mt Evelyn, at the base of the Mount Dandenong ranges - a region well worth a visit for day trippers who are looking to explore the abundance of attractions the mountains have to offer.

Fathers Day

To celebrate our fantastic Father’s Day Special, the girls at Katrina Christ Photographer Melbourne looked back to our favorite Daddy shots! We thought we would share some of the gorgeous images from our recent shoots that made our hearts melt.

2009 Professional Photographer Awards

The 2009 PMA show and Australian Professional Photographer Awards where held this year on the 26th - 29th June in Darling Harbor, Sydney. The exhibition brings the best photographers from across Australia, to share together their work & inspire each other.

What a fabulous exhibition for us nerdy photographers here at KCP team, Alanna & Sarah from Brisbane & Bec from our Sydney studio. The girls enjoyed watching the very serious APPA judging, as we waited in anticipation for Katrina’s Prints. As she was the only highly organized person this year to enter, we all had a little cheer as she received 1 – silver distinction & 2- silver awards, for her beautiful work. We are all ever so proud of these achievements.

By night we giggled away in the streets of Sydney. Enjoying an amazing Vegetarian meal at Yulli’s, a groovy wine bar/ restaurant, in Surry hills. The owner created the restaurant based around his sister, who sadly passed away. She was a vegetarian so he put together a spectacular restaurant hanging her records on the walls, playing only her favorite music, with pretty fairy lights out the back, in memory of her loves in life, it had an amazing atmosphere and the most incredible vegetarian cuisine we have ever had the pleasure to eat.

All & all a fabulous weekend filled with inspiring passionate photographers and lots of fun for the girlies.

Katrina is going on holidays!

Well we are packing up the kids and going on holidays out west in a big RV!

I can't wait to show my girls where I grew up, stay on a working property, visit the home of the Muttaburrasaurus, fossick for saphires near Emerald, and then a nice drive down the coast.

Being from the bush I cannot wait - I love the long straight roads and landscape. I will keep you all posted as a possible next holiday destination for families.

I can see lots of board games, toasted marshmallows, daggy dancing while singing "Fernando" by the fire and quite possibly a few photos will be taken. But I'm a bit nervous about the cold, it was -2 in Roma the other night!

We all sat down last Friday night and watched the movie "RV". It is hilarious but I hope we don't have too many similar moments, especially cleaning out the pipes.

Have a great winter holiday yourselves, even if you can't get away. I just can' t wait to spend time as a family.

Run Melbourne 2009

The girls at Katrina Christ Photographer are limbering up for the Run Melbourne charity event to be held in the CBD on the 28th June!

Come along and join the fun as we raise funds for Mercy Care, a wonderful community benefit organisation that we have supported for some time.

Sisters of Mercy, along with of a team of staff and volunteers, provide free support and accommodation to women and their children who are victims of family violence and in need of safe, emergency overnight accommodation. Funds donated to Mercy Care assist the continued delivery of this high quality service. These funds help provide essentials such as women's and children's clothing, toiletries and nappies, children's toys and food, as well as emotional support in a caring and non-judgmental environment.

After something a bit different?

'When our first two children were babies we had photos taken by Katrina Christ Photographer.

We love the gorgeous black and white photos, but when our third child arrived we thought it was time for something a bit different, and in colour, to add to our collection of family photographs. The Brisbane studio was more than happy to oblige.

We had a great photo shoot with a lot of fun and energy and appreciated the thought Lannie put into capturing the children’s individual personalities. Stunning, gorgeous and full of life- they make me smile with pleasure every time I look at the beautiful photographs hanging on our walls.'

Daddy's Home

Here are three little boys I photographed in Toowoomba recently, as they were running to the back gate to greet their Daddy!

You cannot imagine how excited I was, I had to keep telling myself calm down and keep my camera still.

I just love the fact that even though they are little nudie rudies, they are staying sunsmart with their hats on!!!!!

Katrina wins Gold!

The 2009 Queensland Professional Photography Awards were held in April. It is an opportunity for professional photographers to have their images judged by a panel of their peers and to compete for industry awards.

This year 570 prints were entered in the Awards, of which only 14 prints received a prestigious Gold Award. This year Katrina Christ herself was honoured to receive one of these Gold Awards!

Katrina's Gold award winning image is of Canberra's Parliament House, which she photographed while on holidays with her family.


Katrina also received a further 3 Silver Awards for images entered in the Documentary and Portrait categories.

This image by Katrina was awarded a Silver in the Documentary category, and was taken in the early hours on a cold northern NSW morning.

The photograph below was taken by Katrina in Longreach last year and was awarded a Silver in the Documentary category.

OOOH LA LA!

Melbourne Studio's very own Nami has just returned from her belated honeymoon with her new hubby Andy from FRANCE! As you can imagine, Jess, Jacqui and Margot have been extremely jealous! We are very excited to welcome her home though (and the studio did survive her absence…just!)

Nami and Andy spent much of their time in Paris seeing the big sights... the Louvre, Chateau de Versailles, Notre Dame, Arch de Triomph just to name a few! The food was accordingly divine, and they both enjoyed a croissant for breakfast every morning as well as a beautiful dinner at ‘Bofinger' which was a wedding present from friends.

Nami enjoyed snails which she described as ‘nuttier and chewier than she had imagined’ as well as the best oysters ever! They both rolled home! After a week in Paris, they headed off through the countryside visiting Champagne, the magnificent Alps, the beautiful (and slightly warmer) south coast and then back to Paris to savor the last of the sights!

Enough cheese, champagne and croissants to last a lifetime? Impossible!

Sydney Studio - Photos of the Week

So much fun was had at the shoot that gorgeous little Imogen had a nap in the middle so she could maintain that exceptional cuteness! Meanwhile, young Zach kept us entertained and we also discovered that he has a love for m&m’s!

Together with Nikki & Matt we designed a beautiful 11 photo series in a spectacular silver frame, which they absolutely love and we are very proud of such a gorgeous piece of artwork!

Brisbane Studio - Photos of the Week

I first photographed this lovey-dovey two-some, Yvette & Josh in January this year when Yvette was 35 weeks pregnant.

I did their beautiful pregnancy shoot showing off all her gorgeous bumps & curves and capturing the special relationship they have together.

8 weeks later I was blessed to meet and photograph Oscar when he was only 2 weeks old. It was such an honour to see the little journey they went through from being excited parents to-be to a gorgeous family of three!

What I love is the love they have for each other and Oscar which is so evident in these shots.

At Katrina Christ in Melbourne we recently had the pleasure of meeting Connie, Tony, Luisa and twins Julia and Joey (who is a budding photographer himself!) and we all had a ball! From the shoot to the viewing through to when they picked up their artwork we were all smiling, they are just such an energetic and vibrant family.
