The 2009 Queensland Professional Photography Awards were held in April. It is an opportunity for professional photographers to have their images judged by a panel of their peers and to compete for industry awards.
This year 570 prints were entered in the Awards, of which only 14 prints received a prestigious Gold Award. This year Katrina Christ herself was honoured to receive one of these Gold Awards!
Katrina's Gold award winning image is of Canberra's Parliament House, which she photographed while on holidays with her family.

Katrina also received a further 3 Silver Awards for images entered in the Documentary and Portrait categories.
This image by Katrina was awarded a Silver in the Documentary category, and was taken in the early hours on a cold northern NSW morning.
The photograph below was taken by Katrina in Longreach last year and was awarded a Silver in the Documentary category.

This image by Katrina was awarded a Silver in the Portrait category. It was taken in Katrina's front yard and is a portrait of her neighbour's girlfriend.

We are also proud of one of our photographers Sarah who entered the Awards for the first time this year and received a Silver Award in the Documentary category for a photograph of her Oma.
Congratulations to Katrina and Sarah for their success!
